Govt Bans ‘Lipala Dance’

The Tanzanian government has banned a popular dance that sees women shaking their bums and stripping off their clothes.
It’s a “new generation” version of the kigodoro dance that, in its original form, has been performed at weddings for many years.
The dance’s name means “little mattress”.
“This has become a serious danger to our culture as it threatens the original dances which are our identity,” Tanzania’s Director of Culture Development, Prof Herman Mwansoko, was quoted as saying.
What do you think of the dance? Should the government have blacklisted it? Have a look below and tell us what you think!
